Sitting and speaking with Eden Royce, a fellow South Carolinian, was a special kind of treat. There’s just something about the South and there’s something even more special about South Carolina. Especially when you grow up in a Gullah Geechee Community and in family who practiced HooDoo or Root Work.
Eden was a joy to speak with and in just one hour, she gave a master class in craft.
We tried to keep the recording within the one hour time frame, but if you’ve never put two SC Black women with more in common than not, together… well. Ending our conversation was like pulling scales from a catfish. 😂

I spoke with Ms. Crystal Waller for season two but didn’t feel like her session fit with season two. The author of Marry Well Black Girl is the self-professed creator of the soft wife life movement.
I saw Crystal on Tik Tok and was so intrigued by her videos, I wanted to know more about the Oklahoma beauty. I felt like there was so much more to her story than what I could glean from her video feed on Tik Tok.
I was happy to learn that she had written a book and was willing to come on my show. We spoke for over three and a half hours. Cutting all that good footage down to about an hour of content was one of the hardest editing jobs I’ve done.
