The identifier, global majority, refers to people who are not white British or other white people, including people of Black, Asian, mixed, and other ethnic groups. It's also known as people of the global majority

The identifier is important because it's an alternative to terms that are seen as racialized, like ethnic minority and person of color (POC). It is a more accurate representation of the nonwhite people in the world.

The identifier includes people who are Black, Asian, Brown, dual-heritage, and indigenous to the global south. People who have been racialized as ethnic minorities. Those whose heritage can be traced back to nations of the Global South.

The impact of using the identifier, people of the global majority is based in the power of language. What and how we use words shapes the world around us. The identifier reframes the narrative of majority and minority through a more accurate and representative lens, as well as acknowledges the truth of the world's population.
