I am a Southern, disabled woman, writer, podcaster, and publisher. In a former life, I taught high school English and Creative Writing for almost fifteen year. After developing lupus, I came home and focused on managing my every-changing health.

I started a freelance editing company shortly after coming home because I missed helping my students become better writers. Then… I remembered my childhood dream of becoming a published author!

Seven books, three short stories, and more articles than I remember, dream fulfilled and then some.

Now it’s my greatest desire to help make other women’s childhood dream of becoming published authors a reality.

I hold a BA in English, Language, and Literature from the University of South Carolina and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Design and Instruction from Lesley University. Over the past ten years, I have honed my craft as a writer, publisher, and presenter. With the support of my loving spouse, family and friends I know that Southern Momentum Publishing House will create a lasting legacy of excellence in hybrid publishing for underrepresented women writers writing about the US South.

Hey Y’all! I’m Vickey F. Brown, Founder of SOMO Publishing House

It all begins with an idea. I desired to make a difference in an industry I’ve come to love. I did it for myself, had helped countless others do it for themselves… so, I thought, why not? I’m creative and people trust me once they get to know me. I’ve never tried to do something that wasn’t successful. I told myself, if it works—great! If it doesn’t, then I’ve learned so much. I will help more people than not and it’s this attitude that makes all the difference.
